Below you will find an update from Hannes Blum on the topical truncation of descriptions that was introduced as part of the New Search Results Order A/B Test.
7th August 2009
Hello everyone,
I would like to start off by thanking all of you for your carefully considered feedback regarding the current testing of truncated book descriptions. All of us here at AbeBooks have read your comments and we understand and appreciate your concerns.
As a result, we have decided to discontinue the truncation of book descriptions in the current A/B test of our Search results sort order. Truncation will be removed later today.
We continue to work on improving the customer experience and we want to consider buyer feedback on truncation as well, so no final decision on the implementation of truncated descriptions has yet been made. However, we clearly see the points raised by our seller community and have, therefore, decided to remove truncation at this time.
Thank you again for all of your feedback. Your voices have been heard.
Sincerely,
Dr. Hannes Blum

I take it that 'truncation' is the shortening of descriptions of books? In which case I wish to add my name to the list of those who are against truncation.
However, I do hope that this is not bundled with the other innovation of listing books so that the combined price of book plus shipping is the order in which books are listed? Because I am one of those who are FOR such listing.
Oh and on another note, I am one of those who is not happy that payment into our Bank account takes over a week from the date of notification: we work very hard for our money, and pay Abe 14% combined for your part in a sale - we would like our money as soon as.
BUT ALL IN ALL, VERY HAPPY WITH MY ABE BOOK EXPERIENCES. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK - WHICH HOPEFULLY WILL NOT BE RUINED BY AMAZON...
